Pizzo
At 15 km from Sambalon, Pizzo Calabro is a jewel on the sea, a picturesque village, a labyrinth of little streets and a very touristic seaside place. We suggest you to visit the picturesque Piedigrotta church, built near the sea excavated in tuff-stone, and the Aragonese Castle, where you can visit the cell where was kept prisoner Gioacchino Murat. Collegiata di San Giorgio, a beautiful church with a baroque façade, is also very interesting. Pizzo, like Tropea, is the place where you can meet people at night in restaurants and bars. For ice-cream-freaks we suggest to taste the famous local ice cream called “tartufo”.
